Top enterprise, Globe Business support Hineleban Foundation’s “rainforestation” efforts through golf

The country’s top enterprise leaders have joined Globe Business, the enterprise arm of Globe Telecom, in supporting the “rainforestation” efforts of Hineleban Foundation through donations coming from a friendly game of golf.

The CEO Golf Classic organized by Globe Business combined fun with environmental consciousness. One of its special component is the “Mulligan” or the do-over shot where a player had to donate funds for another chance to recover from a putt that went wrong. Because of the “Mulligan”, the players were able to contribute a total of Php 44,000.00 to Hineleban Foundation, the game’s chosen beneficiary.  Last year, they also contributed Php 38,400 to the foundation through the same tournament.

“Eto Na! Musikal nAPO” bags 5 major awards at the 11th Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards

“Eto Na! Musikal nAPO,” a musical co-produced by Globe Live and 9Works Theatrical (9WT), added another feather to its illustrious cap as it went home as one of the biggest winners during the 11th Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards, the biggest local theater event of the year.

The hip, rip-roaringly funny musical comedy bagged a total of five major awards that include: Outstanding Musical Original Translation or Adaptation, Outstanding Original Libretto (Robbie Guevarra), Male Featured Performance in a Musical (Jon Abella), Male Lead Performance in a Musical (Jobim Javier), and Outstanding Sound Design (Rards Corpuz). This is the second year in a row that Globe Live and 9Works won Outstanding Musical and Male Featured Performance in a Musical awards, and the first musical stint of Jobim Javier who scored the Male Lead Performance in a Musical award. Last year, Globe Live and 9Works Theatrical’s ‘Newsies’ was also a big winner taking home Outstanding Production of Existing Material for a Musical, among others.

Globe Studios’ films nominated at the 42nd Gawad Urian Awards

Globe Studios’ films “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw” and “Hintayan ng Langit” recently earned nominations at the 42nd Gawad Urian Awards, to be held at the UPFI (UP Film Institute) Film Center in Quezon City on June 18.

Nominated for Best Director were Lav Diaz, for his outstanding directorial job in “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw,” while veteran thespian Eddie Garcia earned a Best Actor nomination for his role as Manolo in “Hintayan ng Langit.”

It is another notable recognition for Globe Studios, who continue to co-produce outstanding creative film, television and online content.

“Ang Panahon ng Halimaw” (Season of the Devil) is the latest brilliant product of Diaz, a 4-hour epic which stars Piolo Pascual (Hugo) and Shaina Magdayao (Lorena). The film mixed Diaz’s usual ascetic aesthetics with powerful dialogues set in unaccompanied live “rock opera” fashion, a story told amid a late 1970s society that reeked with authoritarianism, repression and violence.

The movie also recently won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the recently concluded 67th FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences), its second after bagging Best Film in the Gems section of the 58th Festival Internacional de Cine Cartagena de Indias last year. It also competed for the Golden Bear award in the Main Competition section of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival.

“Hintayan ng Langit,” helmed by acclaimed writer Juan Miguel Severo (“On the Wings of Love” and “The Hows of Us”) is about a recently deceased Manolo (Eddie Garcia) who got reunited with his ex-girlfriend Lisang, played by another veteran actress, Gina Pareño in, of all places, purgatory.

Globe joins hands with National Privacy Commission in celebrating Privacy Awareness Week 2019

Globe Telecom joins hands with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) in celebrating the Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) aimed at advancing protection of personal information of consumers while ensuring free flow of information.

This year’s theme, “Protecting the Digital Filipino:  Accountability, Compliance & Ethics in a Data-Driven Philippines,” focuses on boosting privacy safeguards and raising the sense of accountability, compliance and ethics of entities that handle personal data to fully harness global economic opportunities in an era of digital transformation.               

As proof of its support for data privacy and protection, Globe was granted a certification by the NPC recently for having complied with the registration requirements of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and all related issuances. 

The company was also invited to attend the NPC's 2nd National Data Privacy Conference and talk about "How to say YES: Consent Encounters, Issues, and Best Practices.”
